Your PS5 is showing “no signal.” Your Xbox shuts off mid-match. The Switch you bought for the cottage won’t charge. And you’re in Gravenhurst, where “console repair” usually means a shipping label and a month of waiting.
There’s another option: one drive down Hwy 11, a repair done on a real bench, and your console back the same day. It’s about 55 minutes to our shop in Barrie, so the trick is making that trip count. Here’s how.
⚠️ BEFORE YOU DRIVE: Already tried a different outlet, cord, and HDMI cable? Then the problem is on the board, and troubleshooting won’t fix it. We do board-level repair in Barrie for gamers across Muskoka. See our Gravenhurst console repair page for pricing, or send us a message and we’ll tell you what you’re looking at.
You don’t want to drive an hour for a loose cable. Ten minutes of checking can save you the trip, or confirm that it’s worth making.
If you’ve done all three and it still won’t cooperate, it’s time to plan the trip.
These repairs are flat-priced, done on our bench, and usually finished the same day. That makes one 55-minute drive worth it.
HDMI port replacement ($199). A bent pin or a lifted pad can’t be fixed with a new cable. It needs a proper desolder and a new port. We do this for Sony PlayStation consoles and for the Xbox Series X/S.
Overheating repair ($170). A loud fan, a console that shuts itself off mid-game, or a PS5 that sounds like it’s preparing for takeoff all point to dust and tired thermal compound. A full teardown, cleanout, and liquid metal refresh on a PS5 fixes it. We do the same for the Xbox. Not sure if that’s your problem? We explain what’s actually happening inside an overheating PS5.
Nintendo Switch repairs. A Switch that won’t charge is usually the port, and a battery that dies in an hour is a quick swap. See all our Nintendo Switch repairs, including charging port replacement.
No-power and no-boot diagnostics (from $249). This is the one repair that isn’t a simple same-day job, because the cause could be several different things. Read up on PS5 power problems and Xbox that won’t turn on, then call so we can tell you what to expect before you drive.
You don’t need to back up your save data first. Your save data stays intact during these repairs.
We’re at 474 Grove St E in Barrie with free parking out front. Hours are Mon-Fri 10am-7pm and Sat-Sun 11am-4pm.
Official repair centres often quote $250-$350 for a repair that takes an experienced tech about an hour. You also pay shipping both ways and wait 2-3 weeks. Our flat prices are $199 for HDMI and $170 for overheating, with a 90-day warranty, so even after gas, the one-trip repair usually wins.
If your console is older and you’re wondering whether it’s worth fixing at all, our repair vs. buying new guide puts the real numbers side by side.
If you’re making the drive anyway, bring the cracked phone along. We repair screens, batteries, and charging ports too, and you can see everything we do on our Gravenhurst phone repair page. More of what we do is on our game console repair page.
We’d rather tell you straight than waste your Saturday.
Not sure which category you’re in? That’s a two-minute phone call, not a 55-minute drive. Call first, confirm we’ve got the part, then make the trip.
